- Reob Zombi* to Film Manson Family Project With ‘American Psycho’ Author

Saturday, March 1, 2014

The one and only Rob Zombie recently announced that he was scrapping work on a planned hockey movie to work on another horror project. Now, it’s been revealed that Zombie is teaming up with ‘American Psycho’ author Bret Easton Ellis to revisit the famous Manson Family slayings of August 1969.
Rob Zombie has truly aligned himself with one of the best creative partners he could in Bret Easton Ellis. Along with ‘American Psycho,’ Ellis has penned modern classics such as ‘Less Than Zero’ and ‘The Rules of Attraction.’ The author also recently made his screenplay debut with ‘The Canyons,’ an erotic thriller-drama starring Lindsay Lohan.
As for the Manson Family project, Zombie and Ellis have aligned themselves with Fox and Alcon Television. Though still in its early stages of development, the project is currently planned for release as a “limited series.”
“I have been obsessed with this insane story since I was a kid, so obviously I jumped at the chance to be involved in this incredible project. After speaking with Bret, I immediately realized that we shared the same vision for this epic madness,” Zombie says. [via Variety]
Although Charles Manson never physically took part in any of the Manson Family murders, he was convicted of conspiracy for instructing his followers to commit the slayings. Manson, now 79 years old, continues to serve a life imprisonment sentence at California’s Corcoran State Prison.
Stay tuned for more news on Rob Zombie’s Manson Family project as details continue to emerge.
